White Sox Explode With 15 Hits, Rip Senators 8 - 4

April 20, 1967 @ D.C. Stadium

Chicago jumped to a 7 - 0 lead after 3 innings and thrashed the Washington Senators 8 to 4. Ken Berry led the Palehose with 3 hits, Don Buford and Tom Agee each had 2 hits.  John Buzhardt had a 2-run single in the big 6 run third inning helping to send Senators starter Pete Richert to an early shower. Just 5 days earlier; Richert had held the Sox to only two singles through nine innings. Buzhardt pitched through the 7th allowing 4 earned runs to pick up his 1st victory of the season. Bob Locker closed the final two innings to record his 2nd save.

Pete Ward and Ron Hansen had 2 rbi's each. Tommy McCraw stole his 4th base for the year.
The White Sox are now at 5 wins and 3 losses on the young season.

  1. Great action photo of Buzhardt's three-quarter arm delivery. I think that he missed Al Lopez and Ray Berres.
