Yankees Whitey Ford Blanks Palehose 3 to 0

New York Yankees Whitey Ford pitched the final shutout of his Hall of Fame career defeating the Chicago White Sox and besting Tommy John 3 to 0. Ford continued his career mastery of the Chisox with a complete game 7-hitter. (Ford would retire just one month later in May 1967).

Ex-Sox Charlie Smith led the Yankees with 2 hits and a rbi. Mickey Mantle, playing 1B went 0 for 5 and had 15 putouts as Ford had his sinker working one more time. Ken Berry had 3 base hits for Chicago and catcher Duane Josephson chipped in two safeties. Chicago's Jim O'Toole and Wilbur Wood relieved the final few innings.
