Joel Horlen won his 4th game of the year and Bob Locker captured his 6th save as the Chicago White Sox shut out the California Angels and won its 7th consecutive game 1 - 0. Joel Horlen (4-0) went 8 1/3 innings allowing 5 hits (Jim Fregosi with 2 and Don Mincher 3) and 2 walks with 6 K's. After a one out double in the 9th inning by Mincher, Bob Locker came on to retire Knoop and Satriano for the save.
Chicago managed just 3 hits for the game and catcher J. C. Martin had 2 including an RBI double in the 6th inning scoring Ken Berry with the game's sole run. The first place Chisox are now 15 - 7.
I remember listening to this game on the radio. Great memories.
