In his second start of the season, Chicago White Sox Jim O'Toole handcuffed the California Angels in a 10 inning 1 - 0 victory. It was Chicago's 8th consecutive win. Southpaw O'Toole limited the Halos to only two hits (a Bill Skowron single in the 2nd and a Rick Reichart 10th inning single), allowing 1 walk and fanning 11 Angels.

Pete Ward led off the home half of the 10th with a double and Walt Williams pinch ran. After an intentional walk to Ken Berry, Jerry Adair bunted and reached on an error by 1st baseman Bill Skowron attempting to gun down Williams at third. With the bases loaded and after a Tom McCraw short flyball out, Smoky Burgess pinch hit for Ron Hansen and managed a sacrifice fly deep enough to score Williams with the game winner.

4,479 Comiskey Park fans witnessed Chicago White Sox Jim O'Toole's extra inning 2-hit shutout. It was Chicago's second straight 1 - 0 victory over the Angels.

  1. Jim O'Toole was a south side product. He must have been excited pitching in the stadium that he grew up attending. His brother pitched for the White Sox later. I love the uniform posts. They are awesome.
