Tommy McCraw Rocks The House
May 24, 1967 vs Minnesota Twins (Day Game) Metropolitan Stadium
White Sox 1st Baseman Tommy McCraw slugged 3 home runs and drove in 8 runs to help demolish the Minnesota Twins 14 - 1. McCraw homered in the 4th and 7th innings off Dean Chance, and again in the ninth inning off a pitch from Jim Kaat. Chicago banged out 21 hits in total and Gary Peters (6 - 1) pitched a complete game allowing 6 hits and 7 walks while striking out 9 Twins.

Twin Cities Cesar Tovar and Harmon Killebrew belted homeruns off White Sox starter Johnny Buzhardt in the 1st inning giving the Twins a quick 3 - 0 lead, but Chicago bounced back on a 2nd inning Pete Ward homerun (his 5th) and a clutch 3-run shot by Ron Hansen (his 2nd) in the 5th inning to give the Chisox a 5 - 4 lead which ended as the final score.
John Buzhardt (2-2) went 6 1/3 innings and picked up the win. Hoyt Wilhelm knuckled the final 2 2/3 innings of hitless ball capturing his 1st save of the season. J. C. Martin had an rbi while Tommy McCraw and Ken Berry each contributed a stolen base. Chicago's win ended a 3 game losing streak and are currently 2 - 3 on a 12 game road trip. The 1st place White Sox are now 21-11.

White Sox Drop 3 Straight On Road
May 20, 1967 @ Kansas City Athletics (day game)
After winning the 1st game of a brutal stretch of 12 straight road games, the White Sox bowed to the Athletics 9 - 4 in the 2nd game of the series at Municipal Stadium. Tommy John failed to make it to the 3rd inning and the bullpen of Dennis Higgins (LP 1-1), Bruce Howard and Wilbur Wood couldn't put out the fire. Former Chisox Mike Hershberger and Danny Cater had a combined 3 rbi's for the Athletics. KC starter Catfish Hunter was also ineffective lasting only 3 innings. Paul Lindblad (2-0) got the win in relief of Hunter. Chicago's J. C. Martin had a 2-run double in the 3rd inning.

Kansas City rallied for four big runs in the 3rd inning chasing White Sox starter Jim O'Toole (1-1) and hung on for a 5 - 4 victory to take the rubber game of the 3 game series. Athletics starting pitcher Jim Nash went 8 1/3 to capture his 5th win of the year. Former Sox Cater and Hershberger provided damage again each with 2 hits and 1 rbi. White Sox Wayne Causey contributed an rbi and a run scored; and catcher Duane Josephson stroked three base hits.

The Twins pounced early taking advantage of uncharacteristic wildness from Chicago's Joel Horlen scoring 3 times in the first inning. The White Sox battled back and led 6 -5 after five innings but Horlen and Bob Locker couldn't hold the lead as the Twins rallied for 3 runs in the last of the sixth and held back the Palehose to win 8 - 7. Jim Kaat started for Minnesota and Ron Kline picked up the Win in relief. Bob Locker took the loss for Chicago. The White Sox had 11 hits on the day with Ken Berry homering in the fifth inning. Walt Williams led off for the Sox and had 2 hits and 2 runs scored.

12,735 in attendance witnessed the Chicago White Sox bang out 13 hits and defeat the Kansas City Athletics 9 - 1. The White Sox entire starting lineup had at least one base hit with Tommie Agee, Jerry Adair and Don Buford each having two hits. The Sox scored two runs in the second inning and rallied for four more in the sixth to provide plenty of cushion for starting pitcher Gary Peters (5-1) who tossed a comlete game 7 hitter, striking out 8 A's.
Peters and Buford put the White Sox on the board in the second with rbi hits. Ken Berry had two rbi's on the day, while Agee, J. C. Martin and Jerry Adair each had one rbi. Pete Ward stole his 2nd base of the year, and Tommie Agee added 3 more steals giving him 13 for the season. Athletics Lew Krausse (2-5) absorbed the loss. The 1st place White Sox are now 20-8.
